How do I sign up?

If you would like to sign up for the 2012 version of the course, please visit the 2012 registration page.

To sign up to participate, all you need to do is to register your blog with this website. Most people will do this as part of Thing 2, but I hear there are some people eagerly asking to register already (great!)

If you already have a blog and would like to register now, please fill out the form below.

If you don't already have a blog, that's ok too - the very first thing we'll look at is how to set up your own blog, and we'll take it from there.

  1. not sure how widespread this problem will be but our council firewall is blocking me from seeing the form!

  2. Hi Anonymous,

Sorry about that - there's no accounting for council firewalls! This link http://bit.ly/jNYfo5 goes direct to the non-embedded form, and might work?

Otherwise, email profdev23 at gmail dot com with the details above and we'll can add you by hand.

  3. Um, how do I sign up when I don't have a blog? I've nothing to write in the "required" sections of the form.

  4. Hi Anonymous,

The first two 'Things' to do in the programme will be setting up your own blog, so if you don't have one yet, you will do then. You don't need to sign up now - you can wait until after we've explained how to set up your blog.

You will need a blog to post your thoughts about the things we cover in the programme - that's what we count as participation, and a blog's a useful reflective tool for cpd more generally.

We made the form live before the start of the programme as some keen bees who already have blogs were champing at the bit to sign up!

To reiterate - you don't need to do anything now. We'll explain blogging on 20 June and you can sign up after then.

  5. Hi we signed up on Monday but we haven't appeared on the list of blogs yet... Should try again?

    Thanks

  6. Hannah & Rachel,

You are definitely there! You're listed under T (I know, I should be excluding initial articles and put you under L, really, but I've started this way now!). We've tagged you with UK:England, and both FE and HE, as it seems that that best fits your institution.

  7. Hi,

I've been trying to set up a new account with Blogger, but it keeps telling me that I need to verify my account because of suspicious activity by entering either my mobile or landline number. Has this happened to anyone else? I don't really want to give out my phone number. Thanks.

  8. Hi Anonymous,

I have a vague idea that I once gave a mobile number to verify a gmail email address, but I don't remember Blogger having asked for this directly. Have you tried setting up a new email account (with gmail/yahoo/whomever) to use instead? Hopefully other people will chip in with their ideas, too.

  9. Hi Katie,

Thanks for the quick response. I think it may just have been a blip as it is now working fine for me.

  10. Hi all, apologies as I wasn't sure which post would be best to comment on to ask this question, I considered this the most appropriate!

I would like to add a tag to my profile (so people can see it on Delicious), is there any way I can update my profile to do this?

    Thanks! Sally.

  11. Hi Sally,

I'm not sure I quite understand what you're asking. I don't think there's a way to tag a Blogger profile, but I can add extra tags to your listing on our Delicious page if you let me know what you'd like.

  12. Hi Katie!

I meant tagging the Delicious page not my Blogger! Sorry for the confusion. So, yes please add the extra tag if you can.

    Thanks so much :)

    sally.

  13. Sally,

I've added the volunteer tag - and you might be interested to see that there are now four blogs with that tag:

  14. Please could you add tags to my blog: unemployed, volunteer, UK.

Now I can see what will give others access to my blog, http://uptospeedwith.blogspot.com/

  15. Hi. A very late starter here - I know it says to give it a day or two to allow my blog to get onto the list but I'm slightly anxious that I may have done something wrong (quite new to this technical stuff!)

  16. Hi Karen,

It hasn't been 24 hours yet! I do have a day-job, too you know ;) We do have your registration - will add the latest batch before today is out. Thanks for signing up!

  17. Hi,

I typed the wrong URL on my registration form. My blog is Librarian 2.0.
I registered again with the correct URL. Sorry for any extra work I have given you.

  18. Hi Nick,
Thanks for joining us - no trouble at all! I've now added you to the list.
    Best,

  19. I signed up early on but began to wonder recently if my Blog had gotten lost. I don't see it on the list. Should I register again? (Susie Learns 2.0)

  20. Susie, You're definitely signed up. The Delicious list is behaving weirdly at the moment because of changes made by Delicious. But you are listed there, and also in our RSS feed of blogs. At the time of typing, your latest post is at the top of the list headed 'Participants' on the left hand side of this page.
